Holy one, forgive us for skimming the surface:
we refuse to face our own mortality
we don’t truly believe in the eternal life you offer
we don’t examine our own souls
we fail to seek deep relationship with others
we make excuses for hurting others
we avoid your call on our lives
we act like you don’t matter to us
and like we don’t matter to you.
Forgive us our sins, and take us deep into your heart
where there is mercy, compassion, and love. Amen.
